WCG Announces Rules & Regulations PDF Print

kat_wcg_01.pngThe World Cyber Games announced their official rules and player regulations for the 2009 tournament today. This immediatly raised some eye brows regarding the Trackmania regulations and that's certainly something that will be questioned.

The Grand Final rules of the WCG will be pretty much what we have expected. Namely Cup mode with 5 rounds per track, with 2 warmups to start each map with. The maximum number of players will be 4, so it's most likely that it will be 1v1v1v1. However the official rules state the following:

[...]Official WCG Rules and Regulations:
Match Type: Cup
Maximum number of players is four
Five round limit with two warm up rounds
Tracks will be announced soon
National preliminaries and finals can be held in ‘Time Attack' mode. Please refer to your countries' organizer.

The last line in the Rules is pretty ridicilious and is something that has to be changed. Because it doesn't make sense to play in a game mode you don't even train for. Consistency should be awarded and not a fluke round you can pull off in 10 minutes time. Aware of the fact it says 'can be held in Time Attack', doesn't necessarily mean it will be in Time Attack. However there are plenty of countries that will just copy the rules as stated by WCG.

Other than that it seems like WCG will be picking up the 1v1v1v1 format which certainly adds to the spectator experience!

All other rules seem fine but, lets hope we can get the last rule changed!

very strange indeed. but they do say they will gladly take feedback from the
communities. so as long as we express what we want, i think they will change it
to something more suitable.

i think the most countries will change that rule to 1v1v1v1 in online qualifiers
too...otherwise it would be a very mad decision

You don't include your opinions in a news article, although I agree.
